The Pingry School seeks a dynamic art teacher/artist who is interested in sharing their knowledge and expertise in the ceramic arts and in sculpture with Pingry Upper School students, and serve as a 3D specialist within an extensive department of dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues, who’s curriculum draws from the richness of the contemporary art world. The department shares in the commitment of lifelong learning and modeling of this dedication to growth. We wish to instill in our students a lifelong passion for the arts. The candidate will be inheriting a mature program known for its excellence and sophistication, and the job includes the daily maintenance of an extensive studio including indoor and outdoor electric and gas kilns.
Teach year-long courses: Clayworking I and II, Sculpture, and 2D and 3D principles
Assist with our gallery program and oversee our “Potters for Peace” community service initiative
Serve as an academic advisor and work with administration, specialists, other teachers, and parents to foster optimal personal and academic growth in individual students
Additional responsibilities and duties will be assigned throughout the school year
Qualifications and Requirements
Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Alignment with the School’s core values of intellectual engagement, diversity and inclusion, honor and character, and stewardship and sustainability is essential
Bachelor’s degree is required; post-undergraduate work or Master’s Degree and previous classroom teaching experience are preferred
Comfortable with incorporating the latest technology, including online learning, into their classroom activities
Knowledge of 3D computer design applications and 3D printing experience is also preferred
