Tandem Friends School, a co-ed, Quaker, 5th-12th grade independent day school in Charlottesville, Virginia, has an opening for a 5th/6th grade Spanish teacher. This is a part-time position.
Tandem Friends seeks teachers who bring diverse skills, knowledge and interests; a willingness to learn new things; and an appreciation for collaboration with students. At TFS, all teachers are active community members who share in the general support and care of the school community, serve as student advisors, and collaboratively lead service learning and overnight trips among other activities.

The ideal candidate will possess:
a relevant advanced degree and at least 3-5 years of teaching experience,
experience with curriculum design, and student-centered teaching and learning practices,
Spanish language fluency and a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate world language pedagogies,
a strong understanding of the developmental needs of early adolescents,
a demonstrated ability to work with a diversity of student backgrounds and learning styles.
