Social Worker/Senior Social Worker/Lead Social Worker - (200000I7) The University of Maryland School of Social Work has an opening for a Social Worker, Senior Social Worker, or Lead Social Worker to work in the Promise Heights Promise Neighborhood. This position is responsible for connecting Baltimore City Public School (BCPS) students to a customized set of services through collaboration with families, teachers, school staff, and community agencies. The position will work in tandem with the administration and faculty at a public school, as well as other Promise Heights employees, to effectively develop and oversee programs within the school. The selected candidate's position will be determined based on their qualifications. Promise Heights partners with community-based non-profits and faith-based organizations to improve the educational, social, health, and economic opportunities of children from birth to young adulthood in the West Baltimore neighborhoods of Upton/Druid Heights. Essential Function Social Worker - Conduct social work assessments that examine risk and strengths of children and their families who attend Renaissance Academy High School.
- Develop service plans by identifying evidence based or informed programs and services available for a variety of client issues dealing with challenges, strengths, change and crisis. Establishes and monitors the connection between the service providers and individual children and their families.
- Train social work interns (up to two); lead AmeriCorps team working on chronic absenteeism (at least three); and supervise College & Career Coordinators (two) working with students on college exposure and access.
- Maintain case records and document client(s) progress. May generates notes on evaluations, client sessions, reports, and other accountability measures.
- Participate on the school's leadership team and support the principal's vision for school day and after school program curriculum to the fullest extent possible.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to teachers, school administrators, and staff as well as other community partners regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, and /or medical care.
- Participate in capacity-building activities, including initiative-wide and site-based trainings, network meetings and study visits, and with the principal ensure the participation of other site-based staff as needed or required.
- Uses traditional and non-traditional communication channels such as social media and other web technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Senior Social Worker - Assess risk by screening and interviewing clients. Identify and construct service plans that best meet the client's needs, and determine best resources available.
- Develop plans by identifying programs and services available for a variety client issues dealing with challenges, change, and crisis. May have responsibility for program elements.
- Maintain case history records and document client(s) progress. May perform chart reviews and generates notes on evaluations, therapy sessions, reports and other accountability measures.
- Counsel individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, and/or medical care in accordance with licensure.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to others preparing for use of resources.
- May supervise other social workers, interns, students, or employees in accordance with licensure.
- Assist in development of policies, protocols, or procedures as requested.
- Participate on the school's leadership team and support the principal's vision for school day and after school program curriculum to the fullest extent possible.
- May review and provide submission of authorized documentation for reimbursement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Social Worker: Master's Degree in Social Work. Licensed Master Social Work - (LMSW) in the State of Maryland. Applicants who are waiting to sit for LMSW exam will also be considered. Senior Social Worker: Master's degree in Social Work. One (1) year post-licensure (LCSW/LCSW-C) experience in related area of treatment including responsibility for training, work coordination, and monitoring work of others. Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) or Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LSCW-C). Lead Social Worker: Master's degree in Social Work. Two (2) year post-licensure (LCSW-C) experience in related area of treatment including responsibility for training, work coordination, and monitoring work of others. Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LSCW-C). State of Maryland Board Approval as a designated supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of best practices in the field as well as relevant federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and programs/policies utilizing proper application of diagnostic tools. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with a diverse client population using various approved interviewing techniques and consultative approaches. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as with individuals and/or families from diverse ethnic, racial, and social-economic backgrounds. Demonstrated leadership ability, effective verbal and written communication skills, and capacity for creative problem-solving, conflict resolution. Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with professional standards, HIPPA (Health Information Portability & Accountability Act) and FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) and state regulations. Strong written and oral community skills as well as proficiency in information technology work processing, spreadsheets, and databases. The Hiring Range the Social Worker is in the high $40,000s to high $50,000s, commensurate with education and experience. The Hiring Range the Senior Social Worker is in the low to mid $60,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
