The Elisabeth Morrow School, an independent threes-through-eighth-grade school in Englewood, NJ, is seeking to fill six Associate Teacher Positions. The position will be for the 2020-2021 school year. The hours of work are Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:30pm or 10:00am – 6:00pm and Monday afternoons until 5:00pm for professional development and faculty meetings. Occasional attendance at school-related functions that take place outside of these regular hours.
Associate Elementary Teacher
The Associate Teacher will participate in our Associate Teacher Program (ATP) in the Lower School. We seek candidates for multiple positions in grades 1-4. This opportunity is ideal for college graduates or those enrolled in a teaching program and interested in pursuing a teaching career. Associate Teachers work alongside experienced classroom teachers with support from the associate teacher coordinator.
Help plan, execute, and assess developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in harmony with the school’s philosophy and mission
Provide relief for the classroom teacher
Facilitate lunch, snack, and other open ended class times
Ensure guidance of children’s behavior that encourages positive self-concept
Ensure the children’s environment is healthy and safe
Ensure positive communication with parents when requested
Contribute to the ongoing operations of the school by carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned
Promote the school within the larger community
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
One or two semesters of student teaching experience in either independent, charter, or public schools or a mid-career changer with almost no experience in the classroom but a great deal of life experience to contribute
Completed or currently enrolled in a degree program in education
Able to participate in ATP
Passionate about working with children
Eager to learn and flexible in their thinking
Excellent interpersonal skills; collaborative and interested in contributing to conversations
Mature and responsible attitude towards work
