The Shipley School, founded in 1894, is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school currently enrolling 835 students in grades Pre-K through 12. The Middle School has 195 students in grades 6-8, and a faculty of 30.

The Shipley School seeks a qualified candidate to teach three sections of Middle School History alongside our existing team. This position will commence in August 2020. The ideal candidate will:
Share a deep passion for history
Have an excellent background in teaching
Work collaboratively with our history teachers to implement the curriculum already in place
Be comfortable using technology and incorporating it into teaching
Attend planning meetings and play an active role in the MS
Act as an advisor to a group of MS students
Successful applicants should possess the following qualifications:
Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor
Excellent speaking and writing skills and an ability to communicate with students, families, and colleagues
1-3 years teaching experience
BA in History, English, or a related field (advanced degree preferred but not required)
An appreciation for the unique qualities of the typical young adolescents found in middle school settings
A willingness to employ differentiated instruction to meet learners at their level of need
