Hours: 7:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m., with additional hours as needed to fulfill teaching responsibilities

Position Summary: St. Christopher’s School, the largest all-boys school in Virginia and one of the largest and oldest boys’ schools in the Mid-Atlantic region, seeks a first grade co-teacher for 1st grade. Serving 960 boys in Grades JK-12 in Richmond, Virginia, St. Christopher’s School is committed to cultivating a school community that is diverse, inclusive, and welcoming and prides itself on being devoted to bringing out the best in every boy. The Lower School is a busy and purposeful place. We seek applicants who will provide inspiration and joy to our boys and contribute to the dynamic and energetic ethos within our school community. The 1st grade co-teacher will work closely and collaboratively with other members of the 1st grade team, the Head of Lower School, and other resource and support faculty and staff.
Teaching and instruction in language arts/reading, math, social studies, and science
Assist in preparation of materials and activities
Supervise students during recess, snack time, transitions between classes, and free exploration time
Support the lead First Grade teacher in all aspects of classroom management
Qualifications & Key Skills:
Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record
Experience working with elementary grade children
Personal traits for nurturing the growth of children and working cooperatively with adults; a passion and joy for working with young people, and an enthusiasm for learning.
