Classroom responsibilities for this full-time school year position include teaching six periods of French, levels I – IV. Students at each level of study should have regular and challenging practice in reading, writing, listening, and speaking French. Preference may be given to candidates who are able to teach ELA and/or ESOL classes. Candidates must be skilled in using technology in the classroom. The faculty member will work closely with colleagues in the department and will teach a large number of international students. Candidates should be adept using iPads, interactive whiteboards, and other instructional technology and programs. Responsibilities include teaching six instructional courses and proctoring a study hall. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to teach at an independent residential school. MCI may be able to provide on-campus housing in our residence halls and meals in our dining hall for a candidate interested in serving as a dorm supervisor. Each faculty member is expected to contribute to the cocurricular environment at MCI. The start date for this position is immediately.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Related to Teaching Assignment • Plan and prepare instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences • Regularly provide formative and summative feedback to students based on rubrics and regularly and in a timely manner post student grades • Demonstrate a variety of instructional methods that include the use of visual aids, interactive activities, technology in the classroom, and other academic tools to improve overall reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension of the students. • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or higher in secondary education with specialization in French language or a related field required • Proficiency using technology in the classroom; experience with a 1:1 program & G Suite a plus • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills • Familiarity and/or experience with G Suite, Google Classroom a plus • Experience with the backwards-design model for building curriculum and with creating and giving performance-based assessments
