This position begins August 2020 and involves teaching five classes, as well as co-curricular activities, including student advising, as assigned by the division principal. This position is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of art classes, focusing on drawing, painting, printmaking, art history, sculpture, ceramics, and exhibition display for grades 6th through 12th.
Successful teachers at Bullis are energized by curriculum development and are grounded in current learning theory. Bullis art teachers keep up to date with current advances in art education, teaching resources, pedagogy and national objectives. This position involves collaboratively researching and crafting differentiated, engaging lessons for students with a range of learning abilities, as well as providing daily substantive feedback that fosters student achievement. The ideal candidate will have experience planning student-centered, innovative lessons in course-aligned teams, and leading students in inquiry-based experimentations. The candidate will value interdisciplinary thinking and can expertly guide students as they develop a deeper understanding of our interconnected world through the study of art.
Qualified candidates should possess the following education & experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts or related field (required)
Master’s Degree in Art, Education or related field (preferred)
Minimum of three years teaching experience in secondary education, grades 6 - 12 (preferred)
Apply a holistic approach to achieving an inclusive environment where differences are valued and respected
Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
Committed to include diversity and inclusion into objective educational programs
Flexible approach to learning, particularly regarding new technology systems and hardware
Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks
Proficiency with basic productivity and media software
Proficiency with Windows and Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software
Working knowledge of technology systems, including networks and hardware management
Enjoy working in a cooperative, team-oriented environment
Experience with Integrated Performance Assessments is highly desirable
Teaching certificates are not required
