Upper School Applied Science Teacher/FIRST Robotics Mentor
The Buckley School has a need for a 3/5th Science teacher to teach sections of Applied Science. The teacher will be required to work closely with a team and participate in the ongoing efforts to build a cohesive K-12 Science scope and sequence. In addition, we are seeking a mentor for our FIRST Robotics program. This work will take place primarily from January to early April with some work needed to be done in the first semester. Hours are expected to be 2-3 hours per day plus some weekend work in January and February as well as attendance at the meets scheduled by FIRST Robotics. The teacher will be required to attend department, faculty and school committee meetings, among other contracted duties in proportion to their teaching load. This position is eligible for benefits.
Bachelors degree in Science or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
Three years’ experience teaching science at the upper school level
Experience working with the FIRST Robotics Program or a similar program
Familiarity with auto CAD programs
General knowledge of programming languages
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers
Demonstrated commitment to equity theory within the classroom
Demonstrated commitment to working with children outside of the classroom (advisory programs, clubs, etc.)
Demonstrated skill in using technology to design learning
Exceptional interpersonal skills
