The Lang School is a progressive, private school for gifted and high potential learners diagnosed with learning challenges, such as dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety, or high functioning autism – in other words, “twice exceptional” or “2e” learners. We are a small school (60 students) in growth mode (no more than 120 students), and each of our classes is capped at 8 to 12 students.
Lang has an opening for a Secondary Language (LOTE) & Linguistics Teacher to work with students in grades 2-12, either by guiding the online learning of languages that individual students choose or by lead teaching classes of students in learning Spanish, French, or ASL. This position requires a strong background in language-acquisition practice and theory; it also calls for a creative, improvisational, and flexible mindset.
All of our content area faculty partner with therapy team members (SLP, OT, Learning Specialist, School Psychologists), homeroom teachers/advisors, and staff developers in order to support learners in all aspects of their education and development. Faculty enjoy a strong support system, from school leadership to colleagues and parents. Fluency in a second language (tri-lingual a plus) required.
Up-to-date knowledge of online language learning platforms required.
BA/BS or MA/MS degree in linguistics, the teaching of world/secondary languages (LOTE), or education required.
At least three years of full-time experience lead-teaching students in a public or private school required.
U.S. teacher credential strong preferred.
A minimum commitment of three years.
