Sheridan is anticipating the need for long-term substitutes and other staff as part of our planned reopening this fall. We are looking for dynamic, collaborative, student-centered teachers with a background in and a passion for progressive, social-justice education. The ideal candidates will have strong instructional and classroom-management skills for both in-person and distance learning, experience using a variety of assessment techniques, and experience working closely with colleagues and parents. Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to handle a variety of needs throughout the educational school day will be key. Additional responsibilities include regular communication with parents, participation in department and faculty meetings, and lunch and recess duties regularly during the week.

Sheridan is an independent, co-educational, K-8 school located in northwest Washington, DC, offering a progressive, concept-based curriculum that promotes social justice and utilizes Reading and Writing Workshop, Math in Focus and Responsive Classroom. Each grade has about 25 students in one homeroom with two teachers. Departmental classes are taught in smaller sections outside of the homeroom by content specialists.
