Position Description We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual who loves children and values the unique contributions of each child in our school community. SCDS has a thriving, well established Social and Emotional Learning program and is looking for someone who will continue to develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that meets the varied needs of our student population. SEL is a core tenet at our school, and the instructional methodology by which we instill our Guiding Principles of Integrity and Relationship into our program. The SEL teacher will work with students and teachers to teach skills such as self-awareness, managing emotions, social awareness, relationship management, mindfulness training, human sexuality and personal development, drug and alcohol education, goal setting, and good decision making skills, as well as building strong, positive relationships with and among students.
Desired Qualifications Applicants should have 3-5 years teaching experience with elementary and middle school students and hold a B.A./B.S. An advanced degree in education or related field is highly preferable. Strong interpersonal skills, a good sense of humor, and flexibility are essential.
Applicants should have a strong background in current best practices relating to social and emotional learning and be able to apply these. Strong communication skills with parents and students and the ability to collaborate with other members of the faculty are a must. Creating a warm, engaging classroom environment in combination with an academically demanding curriculum are vitally important parts of our program.

Salary, Benefits, and Expectations This position offers a competitive salary and includes benefits. Hours are minimally 7:45 am to 4:00 pm with a weekly faculty meeting until 4:30, and team planning meetings may require additional time.
