The Tatnall School is seeking a 5th grade English language arts and global studies teacher who appreciates an active and collaborative learning environment and values the importance of building authentic relationships with students. Lower school teachers are responsible for meeting the academic needs and building on the interests and strengths of their students. A workshop model allows for small group lessons and individual student conferences to provide feedback and personalized instruction. A variety of informal and formal assessment is used to monitor learning and adjust pacing to meet students where they are. In addition to the core content areas, teachers provide engaging projects to promote opportunities for creativity, leadership, public speaking, responsibility, and independence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teaching reading, writing, grammar, and global studies
Building authentic relationships with students, families, and co-workers
Using ongoing formative assessment to drive instruction and meet student needs
Implementing a variety of assessment tools for students to apply their learning
Integrating technology into the curriculum
Creating an inclusive environment and add diversity into all aspects of the program
Communicating with families regularly
Collaborating with grade-level partner, specialist and the Lower School faculty regularly
