Northstar Academy is currently seeking a Teacher of Students with Disabilities for our Career Academy for the 2020-21 school year to provide career and technical education to students aged 16-22 with a wide range of disabilities.
Develop differentiated daily lesson plans that adhere to the
Implement curriculum and activities to ensure that their students meet academic
Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each of them to do their best work
Use data to modify both whole and small-group instruction in order to best meet the needs of their students.
Provide appropriate lessons to assist transition students to successfully move to post-secondary opportunities.
Facilitate meaningful and ongoing communication with families and public school
Act as on site liaison between Career Academy and work sites
Provide student supervision at work
Provide meaningful information to assist with the development and progress monitoring of IEPs. This includes maintaining data as required by student IEP’s and IAP’s.
Co-teach assigned daily Advisory class in which social skills will be
Perform other duties as
Administer interest and other career inventories.
Must hold a valid teaching license in Virginia, Bachelor’s and/or Master’s in Special Education
Excellent attention to detail; organized, with the ability to prioritize many
Professional written and verbal skills
