The Archer School for Girls is seeking a skilled and experienced part time Biology substitute teacher starting in August 2020 and continuing through December 2020. The position involves teaching Upper School Biology classes using student-centered methodologies. A desire to collaborate with colleagues and a commitment to encouraging the potential in every student is essential.
Our Science Department:
Believes all students can achieve at the highest levels
Uses laboratory-based learning to focus on the integration and application of skills
Teaches “physics first”; all 9th graders take Conceptual Physics as the intellectual foundation to studying Chemistry and Molecular Biology in 10th and 11th grades, respectively.
Ensures rigor and excellence by aligning curriculum, pedagogy and assessments with Next Generation Science Standards
Integrates technology into lessons regularly
Our Ideal Candidate:
Holds a degree in Biology, Biochemistry or similar
Masters Degree or Experience as a science research is preferred
Has taught at least 3 years at the secondary level or beyond
Routinely reflects on their lessons and seeks feedback
Has a desire to grow their teaching practices
Works to effectively differentiate for diverse learners
Collaborates regularly with colleagues inside and outside the subject area
