The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a middle school language arts teacher to join us for the 2020-2021 academic year. This is a unique opportunity for the educator with the right skills, knowledge, and experience!
This position will focus on teaching four sections of eighth-grade Language Arts. Other duties may include electives, carpool, lunch/break/recess coverage, etc.
The ideal candidates will work collaboratively with all classroom teachers as part of grade-level teams and with departmental colleagues to plan and implement our integrated, inquiry-based, dynamic language arts curriculum. Our curriculum is literature-rich, writing-intensive, and culturally-inclusive with a balance between canonical and contemporary works of fiction and non-fiction. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Language Arts education and middle school teaching experience are preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and a passion for working with adolescent children required.
