Job Title: Upper School French 101 Teacher
Division: Upper School
Reports to: Head of Upper School and Chair of World Languages Department
Job Description: King seeks an Upper School French Teacher to teach one section of French and who will report to the World Language Department Chair and the Head of Upper School.
Primary responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to:
Teach one section of French 101 to grade 9 students.
Collegially collaborate with teachers and administrators within the Upper School.
Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning when appropriate to ensure students are being fully supported and challenged.
Participate in all required meetings.
Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress as necessary.
Bachelors required, advanced degree in French preferred.
Significant experience teaching the appropriate range of language levels.
Demonstrated competency in teaching French as a global language, incorporating content from the broader francophone world including Africa, the Antilles, Canada, and Indian/Pacific Ocean societies.
Proven ability to facilitate differentiated, student-centered best practices.
Proven ability to encourage student discovery and autonomy of thought.
Possess a sound understanding of the intellectual and social-emotional developmental stages of adolescents.
Ability and capacity to nurture student discovery and skill development.
The candidate should be organized and able to manage a series of student information platforms and systems, including: Google Classroom, Gmail.
Excellent communication skills and ability to constructively collaborate with colleagues.
Cross-cultural competency, ability to communicate, work, teach and learn in a diverse community of students and staffulty.
Must have a demonstrated alignment with King’s Mission, Virtues, and Diversity Policy.
