The Blake School seeks to hire a skilled and dynamic Upper School Reserve Teacher (grades 9-12). This is a full-time, temporary, benefits-eligible position beginning August 24 and ending December 18. The Reserve Teacher is responsible for providing substitute coverage for faculty absences as the primary on-call substitute. The Reserve Teacher collaborates with the Substitute Coordinator and reports to the division’s Assistant Director. In addition to experience teaching or tutoring adolescents in a school setting, strong candidates will demonstrate a joy for working with children, a commitment to intercultural competence, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
The search committee will begin reviewing applications immediately.
Prior teaching, tutoring or substitute experience in schools, preferably in grades 6 - 12.
Warm, personable, professional demeanor and ability to build trust and rapport with constituents.
Intercultural competence: the capacity to recognize, understand and bridge differences in identity and lived experience.
Facility with technology, including Google platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Deep capacity for logistics and organization.
Content knowledge in a subject area relevant to Blake’s curriculum.
