The University of Texas Permian Basin STEM Academy Charter School is seeking student-centered individuals to teach 1st Grade during the 2020/2021 school year. The 1st Grade Classroom Teacher will design and deliver instructional lessons which provide appropriate educational opportunities and instruction for each student, according to his/her needs and abilities.
The general responsibilities for this position include: • Develop current lesson plans (daily and/or weekly) and instructional materials that provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Provide planned learning experiences that motivate students, utilize best practices, are inclusive of parent participation, and are developmentally appropriate. Select and utilize appropriate instructional materials, aids, and supplies that assist in the development of innovative, well-organized units of study • Participate cooperatively in the system of evaluation as stated in the Charter’s guidelines. Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare student reports and communicate with parents regarding their child’s progress • Participate in assigned committees, school and parent meetings • Additional duties, as assigned
WORKSCHEDULE: This is an exempt, non-tenured TEA funded teaching position. Teachers are scheduled to teach and participate in various professional development days, as scheduled each academic school year. Generally, this position will require the Teacher to be on campus during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. In this role, evening and weekend hours may be required to grade materials, create lesson plans, and attend parent meetings and other academic events. Additional duties, such as morning and lunch duty, will be assigned that will require extended workdays.
