Green Acres School is seeking a full-time first grade teacher. The successful candidate will love, nurture, and inspire children and stimulate and encourage their love of learning. The person will view teaching and learning through a progressive education lens. As a progressive school, Green Acres highly values “learning by doing” and collaborative, project-based work. The teacher will collaborate with Specials teachers in the Lower School to integrate the themes that children are studying in their classes.
Green Acres is looking for an experienced first grade teacher who will know how to assess, develop, and extend children’s language, literacy, and math skills through a rich, engaging, developmentally appropriate hands-on program. The person will possess an effective repertoire of classroom management skills. The successful candidate will possess the following capacities: a sincere love of working with young children, a passion for teaching, curiosity, and a growth mindset, the ability to provide effective and inspirational differentiated instruction, and experience with the developmental needs of young learners. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
