Bullis School seeks two innovative, energetic, and dedicated candidates for the role 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade Homeroom Teachers. This position begins August 2020 and is responsible for the development and implementation of language arts, mathematics, and social studies to a homeroom group of up to 12 students. The position is responsible for developing curriculum, evaluating student work using grades and comments, and communicating student progress with parents.
Successful teachers at Bullis are energized by curriculum development and are grounded in current learning theory. This position involves collaboratively researching and crafting differentiated, engaging lessons for students with a range of learning abilities as well as providing daily substantive feedback that fosters student achievement. Candidates will utilize technology that efficiently enhances instruction. Lower School students utilize Accelerated Reader and iPad integration technology in the classroom.
The ideal candidate will have experience planning student-centered, innovative lessons in course-aligned teams and leading students in inquiry-based learning.
Qualified candidates should possess the following education & experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or related field (required)
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or related field (preferred)
Minimum of two years teaching experience
Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
Flexible approach to learning, particularly regarding new technology systems and hardware
Experience with Responsive Classroom, Singapore Math or similar math curriculum, Readers and Writers Workshop preferred
Experience with Accelerated Reader and iPad integration technology (preferred)
Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks
Proficiency with basic productivity and media software
Proficiency with Windows and Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software
Working knowledge of technology systems, including networks and hardware management
Teaching certificates are not required
