Canton Country Day School is seeking an energetic, creative and caring teacher for August 2020 to teach Language Arts and Math to small classes of third and fourth graders. Canton Country Day highly values “learning by doing” and project-based instruction, which connects naturally to the kinds of activities that these subjects incorporates.

Instruct students in literacy and math skills using the Writing Workshop models and Everyday Math program
Use technology (Smartboard, Macbooks) effectively to enhance and extend instruction

An undergraduate degree or advanced degree in Elementary Education, a related field, or a field relevant to the duties of the position
An active teaching license for upper elementary grades
At least 3 years of prior experience working with upper-elementary age students
A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in an elementary school setting.
Formal training and qualifications in elementary education.
Knowledge of the Ohio Math and Language Arts Standards and incorporate them into their curriculum.
Preference will be given to those trained in the Responsive Classroom approach where one’s approach to teaching and discipline focuses on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness
