St. Edmund’s Academy seeks an enthusiastic and dynamic educator to teach art to students in 2nd-8th grades.
In collaboration with the school’s academic leaders, the teacher will be responsible for designing curriculum, planning lessons, mentoring students, and promoting health and wellness, as well as, performing supervisory tasks as assigned. The teacher will work closely with the Division Director to ensure alignment of the school’s philosophy in curriculum and practices. Candidates must have the capacity to teach extended periods in a rotating block schedule.
Candidates must possess enthusiasm for 21st century pedagogy, be open to change and new ideas, and have an outstanding record teaching elementary and/or middle school age groups. Excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication are expected. Ability to be positive, detail-oriented, and innovative is essential. Ideal candidates show dedication to meeting the academic and personal needs of the students and collaborating with colleagues and parents. Critically, the candidates must demonstrate a willingness to develop racial literacy, an equity mindset, cross-cultural competency and anti-racist pedagogical practices; prior familiarity with these competencies is highly valued. A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
