Upper School Chemistry Teacher, Leave Replacement Full-Time Beginning Late August 2020
Position: Upper School Chemistry Teacher, Leave Replacement Reports to: Upper School Division Head FLSA: Exempt, full-time
Convent of the Sacred Heart 91st Street is seeking an Upper School Chemistry Teacher, Leave Replacement for this Fall Semester.
The hired teacher will be responsible for teaching one section of AP Chemistry and two sections of Honors Chemistry.
For AP Chemistry, the teacher must be familiar with the AP Chemistry curriculum, follow the AP Chemistry College Board curriculum and keep up with the rigorous pacing.
For Honors Chemistry, the teacher will be teaching first-year Chemistry students. Since it is an Honors class, the curriculum should move at a faster pace and be more in-depth than the Standard Chemistry course.
Some responsibilities for both classes include:
Utilizing different tools to teach the material - PowerPoint, video, demos, etc.
Proficiency in Google classroom and Google suite.
Conducting lab experiments - this year’s labs will be conducted using demos, videos, or visual labs—no hands-on experiments.
Providing assessments, quizzes, and concept checks to check student’s mastery of the material.
Providing feedback to students promptly.
Responding to email within 24 hours.
Meeting with students in need of extra help and clarifications.
Some departmental responsibilities include:
Attending the weekly upper school faculty meetings
Attending departmental meetings
Signing up for study hall
Master's degree preferred
Ability and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, (comfortable with teaching in-person and teaching virtually)
