Job Description and Responsibilities
Applicants must be available to work between the hours of 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
The main responsibility of the Support Teacher is to provide highly engaging activities for children while maintaining a positive, safe, and fun environment. Staff must uphold the values and goals of Giddens School, including positive performance in preparedness, attendance, and punctuality. Given current precautions surrounding COVID-19, an understanding that job duties and responsibilities are subject to change throughout the year is required. Specific responsibilities include:
Lead groups of curious, energetic, and creative children in a variety of highly engaging projects/activities each day that are appropriate and adaptable for ages within the assigned group
Infuse social justice and equity into each day
Cover breaks for teachers during the school day
Provide online tutoring and group meetups during distance and hybrid schooling models
Supervise students in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, the classroom, the school’s playgrounds, and at drop off and pick up times
Substitute for the lead classroom teacher in times of absence and fulfill all duties for the designated amount of time.
Provide a professional level of communication with students, families, and Giddens staff
Previous professional experience working with preschool aged children is preferred. A strong applicant will have developed skill sets in organization, lesson and activity planning/implementation, classroom management, conflict resolution, adaptability, and critical thinking.
Current First Aid/CPR and BBP/HIV training certification, or be willing to obtain within 6 months of hire
Current TB test results
20 Hour STARS training, or be willing to obtain within 1 year of hire
$17.00 - $18.00, depending on education and experience.
