Scheduling and supervising the construction and maintenance of the electrical distribution lines in the FKEC System in order to provide the most reliable and safe system for members.
Schedules and directs the daily activities of the line department in order to safely and properly construct, maintain and operate a reliable transmission and distribution system.
Ensures all line work projects are reviewed for required materials, equipment and personnel ahead of execution in order to allow for proper scheduling. Proactively inspects job sites to ensure any required changes to job design are accounted for and any site preparation is completed ahead of time.
Coordinates and manages the use of outside contractors for line work as appropriate.
Maintains a working knowledge of FKEC’s system, line work practices and policies in order to manage line crews in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains working knowledge of NESC and OSHA requirements.
Works with System Operations to schedule outages and coordinate switching orders.
Coordinates with Engineering on system design and staking sheets to recommend changes if necessary. Follows process to submit completed jobs.
Requests inspections as required and coordinates locate requests.
Works to schedule tree trimming with Right of Way crews as necessary.
Supports the training and development of Journeyman Lineman and Apprentices. Monitors and provides feedback to Lineman Apprentices.
Ensures proper care and use of vehicles and equipment.
Conducts Safety checks and crew visits as appropriate.
Maintains current knowledge of Cooperative’s safety policies and takes corrective actions as needed.
Responds to member inquiries and provides solutions to member issues.
Investigates employee accidents and ensures proper accident reports are completed.
Respond to emergency situations and storm restoration efforts as appropriate.
Participates in FKEC Committees as deemed appropriate.
Provides information pertaining to insurance claims, including member claims and vehicle accidents.
Ability to adapt to new technologies and/or processes as it relates to scheduling and completing line work.
Provides supervisory oversight to the line department including timesheet review and approval, PTO review and approval and other employee relation matters.
Must live in the Marathon, Florida service territory (between MM72 and the Seven Mile bridge).
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Training and Experience:
At least ten years experience working as a Journeyman Lineman with an electric utility.
Excellent oral and written communication, organizing, planning and computer skills with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work irregular hours for outage restoration and emergency situations in various types of weather as needed.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
