The Pathways program is in need of a part-time math teacher to teach Middle School Math to students in 6th-8th grade. Pathways is a program for students needing additional academic support, and class sizes are intentionally small with 5-7 students each. Classes are scheduled between 10:00-3:00 Monday-Friday. The position could be full time if needed.
Understanding the academic, social, and emotional needs of students who struggle with confidence in math in order to create a learning environment that meets those needs.
Developing lesson plans and objectives that provide individualized and small group instruction that adapts to the strengths and weaknesses of the enrolled students.
Creating and maintaining a learning environment in which all students are actively engaged and are contributing members.
Facilitating, monitoring, and assessing student learning appropriately and effectively.
Promoting critical thinking skills through the use of research-based instructional practices and strategies.
Collaborating with grade-level teachers to ensure continuity of curriculum.
5+ years of experience teaching middle school or high school math, ideally in an independent, faith-based setting
Enthusiastic, creative, dynamic team player who enjoys working with our targeted population
Extensive knowledge of middle school math concepts, including but not limited to: ratios and percents, integers, expressions, equations and inequalities, geometric figures, measurement, linear functions, and graphing, statistics and probability
