Change the first five years and you change a life… The SIUE Head Start/Early Head Start Program serves over 1,300 children ages six weeks through five years of age throughout St. Clair County and consists of a team of individuals dedicated to making real change that leads to the success of children, families and communities. Our Early Childhood Teachers welcome children and families from diverse backgrounds and create a safe, loving, developmentally appropriate space that promotes emotional/social growth and provides a rigorous school readiness experience. The Head Start program currently has multiple vacancies to fill for the 2020-2021 academic year. Position responsibilities include preparing developmentally appropriate instructional plans, individualizing all child instruction (including for children with identified specialized needs), and managing classroom behavior. Teachers conduct developmental screenings, complete on-going assessments, and maintain/analyze child outcome data in order to determine future instruction as well as participate in home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
