The mission of the Wardlaw+Hartridge faculty is to stimulate and feed the intellectual curiosity of our students so that ultimately we graduate an academically accomplished student who loves learning, thinks critically, is intellectually open-minded, engages others in a respectful way, and seeks to understand how they can have a positive impact on their communities. The Wardlaw+Hartridge School seeks substitute teachers for both short and long-term positions in all grades from Pre-Kindergarten through Twelve in all subject areas. This is a position for an enthusiastic, engaged person who is eager to work with our students to foster a culture of personal growth and self-efficacy. Substitute Teachers should demonstrate the comfortable use of technology in teaching and learning, especially in a blended learning environment. A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute teachers must implement teacher lesson plans, assign student classwork and homework, and maintain classroom management.
Daily substitute teachers will be trained on the school’s virtual learning platforms should they need to be used. Our faculty provide lesson plans for the day in most situations. Substitute teachers should be willing to be contacted for coverage on the morning of placement.
Training in Wardlaw+Hartridge COVID-19 protocols is required prior to work.
Possible positions for those qualified applicants may include a long-term leave in any of the three divisions. If interested in Long-Term Substituting, please indicate as such in the body of the email.
Substitute teachers should plan to be available during the following school hours:
Early Childhood - 7:45 am - 2:45 pm
Lower School - 7:45 am - 3:00 pm
Middle School - 7:45 am - 3:15 pm
Upper School - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
