The Washington University Pediatric Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive care to children and young adults who are transgender and gender diverse as part of a multidisciplinary team.� The Program Manager position is responsible for the management and supervision of the Pediatric Transgender Center program in coordination with the leadership team.� The Program Manager will directly supervise the team staff members and will act as the primary point person for the Center both within the University and in the community. This position will be dedicated to and experienced in working with transgender and gender-diverse populations and will promote the delivery of care based on a gender-affirming and positive youth development philosophy. This role will have three critical components:
Personnel Supervision, supporting the hiring, training, teamwork and professional development of Pediatric Transgender Center staff.
Patient Educational Support, serving as an educational liaison for patients with school leadership and staff to promote a gender-affirming school environment.��
Strategic and Financial Management, partnering with leadership to ensure the Center’s activities are sustainable and evidence-based, and developing regional partner relationships.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic and Financial Management
Partners with the faculty leaders to provide strategic leadership for the staff as well as motivation, guidance and direction to a staff of professionals in fulfilling the mission and day to day work.� Develops and maintains positive working relationships and collaborative efforts with other community funders and providers, serving as the liaison to the clinical team.
Formulates policies, procedures, and protocols regarding standards of care.� Formulates administrative and quality assurance policies and procedures to improve and/or monitor effectiveness of service delivery.� Evaluates clinical data to assist in planning and implementation of new outreach objectives with gender diverse and transgender populations.
Provides information to patients/community/team on various forms of support available to patients by the team and other resources.
Actively pursues new sources of revenue and funding, both clinically and through extramural sources.
Facilitates team meetings to ensure goals are met.� Presents and disseminates information on relevant topics.� Attends all team and community leadership meetings as needed to coordinate and expand the program.
Provides direct supervision of program staff in order to provide clinical direction to their role in order to meet program objectives, and to obtain feedback on challenges and successes they experience with the program.���
Educational Liaison Activities
Consults with transgender patients and their families to assess educational needs and develops plan for social transition in the school setting.
Attends meetings with teachers, school counselors, and school administrators to assist in development of gender affirming school policies and procedures.
Participates in person or by phone call/virtual in the development of educational plans as pertains to gender accommodations.
Tracks meetings, outcomes of school interventions, instances of school policy changes.
Provides patient specific education in the area of education rights and laws and general education requirements.
Maintains follow up with schools and families to determine necessary accommodations to improve patients’ academic performance, attendance, social performance.�
Assists in completing and facilitating required paperwork, unique to each patient and school, between school, patient and medical team.
Leads the revision process for all educational materials, providing content revision and peer review.� Makes appropriate changes in medical documents used by school faculty, family, patient, community and medical staff by providing regular reviews of all materials.�
Works closely with psychosocial team and providers to ensure optimal outcomes for patients and to carry out recommendations in the school setting.�
Other duties as assigned.
Master's level (MSW, MPH, MHA).
Experience in delivery of services to youth, project administration, staff supervision, and youth advocacy.
Supervisory experience of a multidisciplinary team.
5+ years of supervisory experience in a clinical or social service environment.
Background and expertise in working with youth/young adults and/or transgender and gender diverse individuals.
Strong ability to create key partnerships and collaboration.
Demonstrated competence and experience with diverse populations to include the spectrum of racial, sexual orientation and gender identities.
Program planning, implementation, and evaluation experience.
Strong verbal communication, presentation, and written skills.
Knowledge of clinical environment, including EMR (EPIC).
Grant writing experience.
The hiring range for this position is $56,472 - $72,009 annually.
