Assist faculty in creating and implementing distance learning to mirror the goals and content of synchronous classroom instruction This position requires collaboration with students and faculty to translate The Lower School educational experience into a virtual environment. This also requires strong social-emotional skills necessary to support our students and families who are learning on our online platform.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
Implement instructional strategies that stimulate learning and increase student engagement.
Work with MCDS faculty and students to meet institutional goals through effective implementation of distance education instruction.
Oversee and maintain the distance education courses online in collaboration with Grade Level Teams.
Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
Collaborate with parents and colleagues to manage course goals, curriculum, and materials that enhance the learning experience.
Assist teachers in creating a virtual environment conducive to learning.
Lead students through successful course completion.
Take part in Morning Meetings when appropriate.
Actively participating in Professional Learning Communities (or professional development).
Hosting live synchronous sessions that promote a positive learning environment which include office hours for students.
Prioritize student needs so that each child may reach their fullest potential.
Ability to work and create in an online environment
Ability and/or willingness to learn how to utilize web cameras and computers to produce online learning modules.
Work Hours:7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements:
Education degree and experience and skill in specific, relevant field of study that applies to the classroom.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; professional manner with all school personnel and students.
Demonstrate functional knowledge of computers and all aspects of the Microsoft
Office Professional software programs.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and accomplish specific tasks as

Knows procedures for referring students who are disciplinary problems.

Performs other related duties as directed by Division personnel.
Adheres to established Miami Country Day School policies described in the MCDS Employee Handbook.
Physical ability (able to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the objectives in the lesson.
Duties require extended periods of time standing, walking, sitting, talking and listening.
Work environment may be in temperature-controlled room and outside in extreme heat and/or cold.
Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of diverse constituencies within the school community and the skills and attitude to deliver an exemplary experience equitably to all students.
Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

This position is a Seasonal Position without benefits. It will be in place during the Hybrid Model of instruction on campus. In the event of a full return of all students to campus, this position is no longer necessary.
