The Upper School English Teacher position is a full time position, expected to begin early-February and last for approximately 12 weeks, reporting to the Head of the Upper School. This position is responsible for teaching three classes of 10th grade english and one 12th grade writing fiction elective.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach assigned curriculum, correct assignments, administer tests, evaluate students’ progress, inform parents of progress.
Keep attendance records; maintain discipline in classroom.
Participate in faculty and professional meetings and teacher training workshops as appropriate.
Be organized, dependable, patient and creative.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
A minimum of two years’ of English teaching experience, preferably at the Upper School level.
Strong knowledge in the related field.
Ability to motivate and communicate effectively with students and understand their educational and emotional needs.
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community.
Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize a variety of teaching methods to support student learning.
