Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking an Upper School Religion Teacher. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish independent day school in the country, serving 1,400 students and offers a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
Teach five sections of Upper School Religion courses in a classroom setting
Develop and implement lesson plans appropriate for a block schedule.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional activities and environment.
Create an atmosphere of student engagement.
Update and maintain accurate student academic records in Canvas LMS and Blackbaud SIS.
Communicate regularly with parents, students and colleagues regarding student progress.
Skills and Abilities Desired
Experience teaching courses in old testament, new testament, world religions, ethics or related fields.
Familiarity with Understanding by Design or Teaching for Understanding frameworks.
Experience with Professional Learning Communities and the Reflective Practice model.
Proficiency in second modern world language.
Experience working or living in a cross-cultural setting.
Willingness to plan service-learning experiences in partnership with the chaplaincy.
Excellent organization, presentation and communication skills.
Strong classroom management skills.
Bachelor’s Degree in Religious studies, Education or related field required; teaching credential and Masters degree strongly preferred.
Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.
