High School Science/Math Teacher
The Cedar School
The Cedar School, a private high school for bright students with language-based learning differences (such as dyslexia) is opening in September, 2021, and seeks a founding staff of teachers. We are looking for dynamic educators who enjoy teaching in a multisensory way, incorporating visuals, music, hands-on activities and experiential learning. For the founding staff, we seek someone comfortable teaching both high school science and math (Algebra/Geometry), with the opportunity to choose one or the other the second year (or to continue to teach some combination). The science courses offered the first year will likely be Biology and/or Environmental Science. Depending on enrollment, all students might take the same science course, for ease of preparation. Applicants should be comfortable with a heavily lab-based, hands-on science curriculum. The school will provide extensive instruction in multisensory math teaching and will provide a structured math curriculum. Applicants should enjoy a collaborative, team approach, and be comfortable with an emphasis on depth, rather than breadth of coverage. At The Cedar School, content will be a vehicle for the skills students need to succeed in college and in life.
