National Cathedral School (NCS) announces a search for a full-time mathematics teacher in the Upper School (grades 9 through 12). Qualified candidates hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred, and have relevant teaching experience. Ideal candidates will be versatile in teaching Geometry through Calculus and possibly beyond. The position also has a possibility of teaching any of the following classes and ideal candidates will be able to teach one or more: AP Economics, AP Computer Science, Multi-Variable Calculus, or Differential Equations. The position begins in August 2021 though there is a possibility of an early start during spring of 2021. NCS is committed to leadership in multicultural education and a culturally diverse faculty and staff and seeks applications for this position from candidates who will contribute to an atmosphere in which all are valued and supported. As a result, the successful candidate will teach a curriculum in which students see themselves represented. The school expects candidates to have a willingness and ability to use differentiated instruction in the classroom. NCS teachers use a variety of techniques in the classroom. Teachers utilize a student-centered pedagogy and technology as a teaching tool as well as a student resource. NCS seeks an experienced classroom teacher who has a background in curricular and pedagogical innovation. National Cathedral School serves 595 students in grades 4 through 12. Faculty and staff are curious intellectually, flexible, and collaborative, and they view education as an exciting vocation. The typical Upper School day runs from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm. Responsibilities for this position include collaboration and full participation in a schoolwide math department to ensure excellent scope and sequence. Other responsibilities include regular department, division, and faculty meetings, supervision of one or more study halls, and serving as a homeroom advisor. Salary is competitive, based on experience, and the position includes a full benefits package. |
