The Grounds Superintendent independently plans, directs, and coordinates groundskeeping and landscape operations of the assigned division. Manages a team of skilled staff and supervisors.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises all aspects of assigned grounds maintenance and services. Develops and implements grounds maintenance standards and schedules. Develops and implements plans to reduce environmental impacts in compliance with South Florida Water Management District and Corps of Engineers requirements. Ensures all staff are properly trained to perform their jobs. Oversees landscaping projects to ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and security standards. Assists in preparation of the annual grounds budget. Recommends and implements operating policies and procedures to ensure efficiency of operations. Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.
Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Eight years of related full-time work experience in general landscaping or groundskeeping, including experience with environmental issues such as xeriscape technology, South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) water restrictions, and identification of exotic intrusive plants.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Pesticide and Herbicide Application Licenses or the ability to obtain within twelve months of employment.
Experience supervising and delegating the work of others.
Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Valid driver’s license.
Bachelors’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field.
Eight years of related work experience in a large commercial or educational setting.
