Friends Academy seeks an experienced Chinese teacher who is excited about teaching high school students to engage in our core educational practices. We are searching for someone with excellent oral and communication skills who thrives in a vibrant educational environment, embraces change, and has a deep interest in our Quaker mission and educational philosophy.The position is a full-time spring semester leave replacement and the primary responsibility is teaching four sections of Mandarin Chinese. The candidate will also have the potential to serve as an advisor to a small group of students. The position would commence in late January 2021, with duties through June, 2021.
Qualifications: We are looking for bright, energetic, and creative candidates who are current with best practices in Chinese language instruction, with a focus on 21st-century learning skills. An undergraduate degree is required, and a graduate degree in either education or in a relevant discipline is welcome. We are especially interested in candidates with experience in online and project-based teaching and learning. Successful high school teaching experience of at least three is desired, including experience with introductory level as well as the most advanced levels, including AP classes. Experience with independent schools is welcomed and experience teaching students of high school ages is also important. A successful candidate must have strong organizational, time management and technology skills. We are looking for a candidate who is student-centered and excited to work collaboratively with students and colleagues and the community.
