Mathematics Teacher and Department Chair
Kents Hill School
Kents Hill School is at a pivotal moment in its almost 200-year-old history. Our Head of School has brought a clear educational vision, a global perspective, experience at both traditional boarding and international start-up schools, and a strengthened focus on developing the whole student through a balanced, intentional, and purposeful 4 Dimensional curriculum. One of the oldest boarding schools in the country, Kents Hill’s foundation is built on our caring and deeply engaged faculty members who truly know each student, and that foundation is stronger than ever. Our 180 students, in grades 9 through Academic Gap Year, hail from 21 states and 13 countries. Our small size allows for a transformative educational experience rooted in community, character, and values. Our academic leadership team supports teachers, while also encouraging all members of the community to be lifelong learners. At this time, a hybrid learning model is in effect at Kents Hill School to accommodate the circumstances brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. Each class generally has a mix of in-person and remote students. This position, with a start date of August 1, 2021, will join a strong STEAM Division and have the opportunity to lead our Mathematics Department. Our Mathematics offerings begin with Algebra 1 and follow a typical College Prep track through AP Calculus (BC) with an optional or concurrent Statistics/AP Statistics track. We are looking for an individual who is excited and able to teach higher-level math courses, particularly Advanced Placement courses and potentially higher level Independent studies. This full-time teaching position will lead the Mathematics Department and will also advise a group of students, actively participate in the residential life program, and assist with extracurricular activities.
