4th Grade Science Position Village Community School (vcsnyc.org), a K-8 independent school in the West Village, seeks a 4th grade Science Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. This position is part-time starting immediately or at latest January 4th. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: •Creating and maintaining an inclusive learning environment that is conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.•Actively instructing engaging and motivating integrated science lessons to students from all abilities.•Working with the Dean of Curriculum to prepare, implement, and document appropriate lesson plans that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students, based upon adopted curricula and a variety of resources•Turning in weekly lesson plans and meeting with the Dean of Curriculum and Dean of Faculty.•Monitoring, assessing, and documenting students’ academic progress•Communicating standards, achievements, and areas of concern to students and parents•Meeting and communicating with parents both formally and informally (email, phone calls, conferences, and written Mid and End-of-Year Reports)•Attending staff meetings, serving on various committees and participating in a variety of professional development activities, including anti-racist and anti-bias PD.•Collaborating with school administrators, other teachers and staff, parents, and community members in the education of the students All prospective candidates should send a cover letter and resume to Sarah Williamson-Broadman, Dean of Faculty at swilliamson@vcs-nyc.org.
