Position Summary Bancroft School is seeking teaching candidates for our Grade 6 Hope Graham Program Classroom beginning January 2021. The Hope Graham Program (HGP) has grade level cohorts, allowing for individualized instruction that supports student needs while highlighting their strengths. The curriculum is facilitated by expert teachers in decoding, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, reading fluency, writing, and math while using a systematic, multi-sensory approach to teaching reading based upon the philosophy of Orton-Gillingham. HGP allows for hands-on learning and frequent daily opportunities for student collaboration with non-HGP peers with an emphasis on building self-advocacy skills and ownership of one's learning. Students in our HGP program have access to the richness and depth available to all Bancroft School students, including music and drama programs, field trips, robotics and technology classes, student clubs, sports teams, opportunities for collaboration across all grade levels. Hope Graham Program teachers are responsible for the core academic subjects of English, history, and literacy and provide co-teaching and consultation in mathematics and science. The ideal candidate will work effectively in a culture of innovation, student choice and collaboration with colleagues across the division. Essential Responsibilities - Teach core subjects

- Collaborate with Lower School colleagues on curricular and culture initiatives
Essential Skills and Experience - A Master's degree in education, preferred
- Three to five years teaching experience
- Experience in and enthusiasm for designing curriculum and inquiry-based learning
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction
- Certified Practitioner in the Orton-Gillingham Approach
Essential Attitudes and Aptitudes - A continued interest in Professional Development as a lifelong learner
- A collaborative spirit
- A willingness to participate with enthusiasm in all aspects of the school community
- An understanding of and love for middle school students
