Position/Title:             Upper School Mathematics Teacher – Long Term Substitute

Appointment:              Mid-January for approximately four weeks

Position Summary

We are seeking one or more long-term substitute teachers to join the Upper School Math Department from mid-January for a minimum of four weeks to cover a leave of absence. The primary focus of this position will be covering Honors Algebra 2, Calculus, and AP Calculus AB.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid working knowledge of technology necessary for online curriculum design and classroom presentation and management. As a long-term substitute, you’ll become an integral part of Laurel’s educational team, increasing your teaching expertise while maximizing the learning experience for students!

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Preparation and implementation of daily lessons
• Delivery of assignments and timely evaluation of all relevant classwork and student progress
• Design and implementation of appropriate, authentic assessments and support of individual students
• Timely and proactive communication with parents about student progress
• Collaboration with other members of the faculty, administration and staff on experiential, interdisciplinary and community-based opportunities that add to the school community
• Effective and timely communication with varied school constituencies, through email and through voice mail
• Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught and ability to apply critical thinking
• Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
• Access to reliable high-speed internet
• Proficient in Microsoft 365, Google Suite, and Zoom Platform
• Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
• Experience working with proposed age group
• Experience working in a virtual environment
• Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick and mortar environment
• Experience with PowerSchool or other learning management system
