Charlotte Latin School is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, flexible, and energetic biology teacher with college preparatory experience to join our full-time Upper School science faculty beginning in August 2021. This position is well suited for motivated professionals who are looking for the freedom to teach unique biology courses at the Advanced Placement, honors, standard, and elective levels. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching.

Education and Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; master’s or doctoral degree in biology or associated area highly preferred
Experience teaching biology is required
Experience teaching chemistry or physics is preferred
Experience teaching a wide variety of course levels is preferred
Experience teaching in an independent school is preferred
Able to contribute as a team member
Promotes critical and creative thinking
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to engage and connect with students as individuals
Able to contribute to student life outside the classroom
Proficient using technology to support education
Promotes a safe classroom environment that supports student learning and is conducive to individualized and small group instruction
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Knowledge of a wide range of subject areas, including general science, earth science, biology, physiology, chemistry, physics, and other related areas (e.g., engineering, mathematics)
Continues to acquire professional knowledge about current developments in science and education
