Dept Marketing Statement Founded 23 years ago, Baskin School of Engineering (BSOE) is home to approximately 100 faculty members in six departments, as well as over a quarter of the undergraduate and a third of the graduate students at UC Santa Cruz. The school houses a dozen active research centers and institutes, and is planning further programmatic growth. Research focus is on human-centered technology and engineering with societal benefits. The focus of BSOE's educational programs is to instill strong basic knowledge for sound practice in science and engineering for societal benefit, and its diverse curricula facilitates creative thinking and prepares students for productive and rewarding careers. BSOE is focused on building collaborative connections and expanding instruction and research activities for faculty and students at UCSC and in Silicon Valley.
he Digital Communications Project Manager uses skills as a seasoned, experienced digital communications professional and project manager with a full understanding of project management methods, tools, and best practices to manage technical and non-technical projects.
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Director of Communications, and in collaboration with key stakeholders (including faculty and staff), campus Information Technology, and third-party vendors, the incumbent will plan, manage, guide, and help execute a high-profile website upgrade project for the Baskin School of Engineering, a non-routine and moderately complex website upgrade and migration. The incumbent may participate in the design, layout, and information architecture of the site; help ensure search engine optimization; migrate content into new design templates; and develop social media platform content. The Digital Communications Project Manager demonstrates a full understanding of industry practices and organization policies and procedures, good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, and an ability to work well with individuals across the organization. Job duties may also include generating compelling digital content for the website and/or social media.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary Information: This is a Part time position working 35% time (14 hours/week). At 35% time, Salary Range is $2,800 - $3,360/month. [The salary range, if 100% full time, would be $8,000 - $9,600/month]

Uses project management tools, skills, and best practices to manage the upgrade and migration of the Baskin School of Engineering website.
Coordinates with an external web development vendor, and acts as a liaison between communications, faculty, staff, central IT, and third-party vendors.
Develops project plans including goals, deliverables, resources, budget and timelines/schedules.
Coordinates meetings and project-related actions among the consultant, web developer(s), central IT, faculty, and school leadership.
Helps ensure web project proceeds on schedule that milestones are met, and technical specifications and contractual obligations are adhered to. Provides periodic content progress reports outlining key activities and progress toward achieving overall goals.
Meets and consults with clients on a variety of digital communications, the website upgrade and migration project including moderately complex assignments; manages develops, presents, and recommends web content, site architecture and visual material.
Recommends and helps determine structure, IA, and layout for website and individual pages.
Performs rigorous testing of website as delivered by third-party vendor. Ensures technical accuracy, layout, and understandability of web content.
Assists with arrangement and layout of migrated content.
Maintains currency with emerging and state-of-the-art technical and other web-related equipment, requirements and developments (for example, accessibility issues) and recommends and as directed, takes action to ensure compliance.
May develop new content for the web and/or social media.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough digital project management skills and substantial project management experience sufficient to manage technical and non-technical projects. Understanding of project management tools (e.g., Asana) and best practices.
Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of design and user experience, including skill to guide design in an appealing, lively and relevant way.
Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work, including a knowledge of Drupal 8.
Thorough understanding of web site best practices to help guide the creation of clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the organization's message and in keeping with management directives and client objectives.
Ability to arrange migrated content into a Drupal 8 theme.
Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills to effectively convey and explain information, including skill in trouble-shooting and applying proactive and positive solutions.
Ability to lead, build consensus and promote the exchange of information among project team, internal and external constituencies.
Technical skills sufficient to manage a complex technical project.
Thorough knowledge of content management systems and / or relevant web applications used for web production and organization-specific computer application programs.
Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems.
Thorough understanding of organization's processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communications.
Ability to work successfully with individuals across and external to the organization (leaders, staff, faculty, IT, vendors).
