Westlake Christian School, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and the premier private school in northern Pinellas County in Tampa Bay, is seeking a highly motivated, engaged, and passionate Assistant Director of Academics for the 2021-2022 school year due to school growth. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about curriculum, instruction, and assessment and hold a strong understanding of best practices in education. The Assistant Director of Academics is an administrator position that will work collaboratively with the Director of Academics. This position is available in the summer of 2021.

Candidates should possess a desire to grow within a professional learning community and be enthusiastic about teaching and learning. Candidates should exhibit a passion for teaching and working with children and uphold the highest standards of excellence professionally and personally. Candidates should be willing to collaborate with staff members and families and operate as reflective practitioners.
A major function of the Assistant Director of Academics is to support the curriculum, instruction, and assessment for Westlake Christian School. This position serves as a liaison between the teachers and other members of the school community, and serves on the school leadership team.
The Assistant Director of Academics will be responsible for:
Assisting in the development and communication of school plans and goals related to curriculum and student achievement
Facilitating the school’s assessments
Assorted additional responsibilities to be discussed in the interview process
Articulates knowledge of current professional literature and best practices
Experience in teaching
Experience in data
Experience in leading teams
Values differentiated instruction
Proficient in the use and integration of technology in the classroom, including SMART Board technology
Articulates understanding of the unique developmental needs of middle school students
Proficient in integrating the Biblical worldview into instruction
Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
Exhibits strong problem-solving skills
Shows skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community
Willing to contribute regularly to school community activities
Post-graduate degree required
