SALARY: Commensurate with experience as related to official teacher salary schedule.

INSTRUCTIONAL – RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES

TEACHERS AT THE AMERICAN SCHOOL OF PUERTO VALLARTA

1. Are knowledgeable of the school’s vision and mission and guide the learning process toward the achievement of such.
2. Create an instructional environment which provides for optimum learning and exploratory experiences.
3. Uses curricular objectives to plan and instruct students in reading, language arts, social studies, health, and mathematics.
4. Provide experiences that enhance the opportunity to develop responsibility, initiative, leadership competencies, cooperation and self-direction.
5. Implement instructional activities appropriate for student maturity, interests and individual needs using a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, discovery, etc.
6. Make maximum use of instructional time by keeping students actively engaged in learning activities.
7. Use instructional media and community resources to enhance instruction and student learning.
8. Check for student understanding of teacher objectives in all instructional activities and classroom procedures.
9. Provide written plans of instruction as required by administrative direction.
10. Meet assigned classes in a punctual manner at times designated and in locations assigned.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintain rapport within the school and outside communities which promotes productive working relationships.
2. Demonstrate attitudes, which promote positive perceptions of the American School.
3. Evaluate and report student academic and social progress to the parent through written and oral communication.
4. Take security measures which protect students from injury and school property from damage.
5. Participate in and give leadership to extra-curricular activities in the school
6. Participate in school community activities
7. Participate in professional growth activities sponsored by the school
8. Participate in the review and revision of curriculum and instructional materials and equipment.
9. Comply with administrative requests in an adequate, accurate and timely manner.
10. Comply with school policies, operating procedures and requirements.
