2nd/3rd Grade Lead Teacher - Long Term Extended Leave Substitute

The 2nd/3rd Grade Lead Teacher - Long Term Extended Leave Substitute position is for candidates eager to participate in and learn through the development of a new academic program. Bennett Day School is looking for educators who are deeply invested in a collaborative work environment where they will participate actively in the teaching and learning process with students. They are also responsible for the integration of technology in the classroom as a powerful tool for student learning and documenting the process. They will work in close collaboration with the lead and specialist teachers to develop and support best practices with technology and materials as it relates to the learning process. Candidates should understand that teaching is dynamic and will work in tandem with the primary and intermediate grades teachers to adapt and integrate this belief in the daily work in the classroom and school community.  

Job Specifications:

• Grade-level curriculum development
• Individual student documentation and evaluation
• Family communication: home visits, four conferences, blogging
• Collaboration and communication with Lead and Assistance Teachers
• Professional Development: Wednesday afternoon; beginning and end of year PD
• Collaboration, communication, and integration with Specialist teachers (Art, Music, TESLab, Spanish, PE)
• Participation in self-evaluation and reflection process; individual and team meetings with the Director of the Intermediate and Middle School
• Participation in family/community evening/weekend events: Curriculum Night and 2 of the following required; Parent Panel, Open House, New Family Play Date or other additional Admissions/Marketing outreach events.
• Participation in arrival/dismissal and/or lunch/recess duties as assigned
• Hours:  8:00am-4:00pm M/T/TH/F; 8:00am-5:30pm W (Faculty meetings and Professional Development)
