CBRE|HEERY is looking for a Superintendent/Inspector to verify in-place construction a health facility project in the Petersburg, Virginia area. Petersburg is approximately 25 miles south of Richmond, VA.

PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS:
The hospital project is at an in-patient behavioral health hospital, serving acute forensic, secure forensic and civilly committed patients.
The new facility will encompass approximately 471,000 square feet, and will provide a total of 252 in-patient beds. The scope of the project will include patient treatment/program areas and administrative and support services space. The design will anticipate the construction of a future 48-bed addition. This future addition will be designed through preliminary documents only. The new facility is envisioned to be two-stories at administrative areas, but single-story at all patient living and treatment areas, where treatment areas will be delineated for maximum security and civil patients. The project includes secure enclosed courtyards for outdoor recreation of those committed for care. An integrated system of security, safety and information technology will be required.

Job Summary
  • Responsible for hands on management, supervision and coordination of all subcontractors and general conditions work on construction job sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Continuous coordination of work in the field, anticipation of the upcoming work and analysis and resolution of any conflicts between contract documents, owner's intentions and field conditions
  • Reviews and analyzes shop drawings and owner project information for constructiblity.
  • Reviews design documents.
  • Primary oversight and resolution of safety issues for the entire project.
  • Participates in schedule development and management.
  • Works as part of the project team to provide good and ethical management and supervision and deliver contractual responsibilities with the highest standards of quality, schedule and financial performance.
Supervisory Experience

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May lead project teams and/or plan, and supervise assignments of lower level employees.


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or university program certificate or minimum ten years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.
Financial Knowledge
  • Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
