Lower School Spanish Teacher
St. Andrew's Episcopal School
St. Andrew’s Episcopal School seeks to hire an innovative, energetic, nurturing and knowledgeable full-time Spanish teacher with responsibilities to begin in August 2021. Preferred candidates will be enthusiastic and passionate about teaching Kindergarten through fifth graders in a progressive learning community. Candidates are expected to have favorable attitudes or prior knowledge of acquisition-driven instruction, teaching with Comprehensible Input, social emotional learning, responsive classroom, technology integration, curriculum development, differentiation, effective parent communication and reflective practice. Our instruction emphasizes listening comprehension and oral communication and is part of a well-articulated Spanish sequence from Kindergarten to 12th grade. We are looking to hire a full-time faculty member who would be capable of collaborating with Lower School Spanish colleagues to develop a meaningful curriculum that engages students in relevant, age-appropriate communicative tasks, and that will allow learners to advance to the highest possible levels of Spanish proficiency. This position requires teaching the range of grades from Kindergarten to Grade 5. The ideal candidate is an accomplished Spanish teacher with student-centered pedagogy and successful classroom experience at the elementary level. This position requires collaborative work with faculty (in and out of the Modern Language Department), excellent interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills. Candidates who contribute to the cultural and ethnic diversity of the community are encouraged to apply. In order to be considered for this position at St. Andrew’s, we ask that candidates submit a resume, and in lieu of a cover letter, applicants are asked to submit written responses to the 3 questions at the bottom of this page. Please submit your resume and written responses to the 3 questions to Michelle Roe, Director of Finance & Human Resources, at hr@sasaustin.org.
