| St. Andrew's Episcopal School is seeking an innovative Middle School History/Social Studies teacher for a full-time, permanent position starting August 2021 at our 31st Street campus in Austin, Texas. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher in history, social studies, geography or other humanities-related field, several years of teaching experience, excellent character, a collaborative orientation, and a passion for teaching middle school history or social studies. We focus on World Social Studies (6th), Early American History (7th), and Modern American History (8th). The ideal candidate would be able to teach in any grade level and collaborate with the Middle School History and Social Studies department. Our History classes use the content to build skills in critical thinking, expository writing, problem solving, research, and presentations. The ideal candidate should be able to delve deeply into these disciplines and how they can be used to consider real-world problems by looking through historical context by providing students with exciting opportunities for exploration and other forms of student-centered learning. This full-time position will involve teaching four sections of middle school history or social studies, serving as an adviser, and additional duties such as on-campus supervision, or supervising a student organization/club. Prior experience with social emotional learning curricula and diversity work is ideal. Salary will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
