Waldron Mercy Academy seeks a long term substitute for the position of Middle School Math teacher for Grades 7 and 8 to start immediately. Waldron Mercy is an independent, coeducational Catholic school sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy located in Merion Station, PA (suburban Philadelphia), serving grades PreK-8. We are a school where the joy of discovery inspires serious study, social responsibility, and strong faith. We teach in a socially distanced, PPE, hybrid learning environment.
Essential Functions
Responsible for preparing curriculum and teaching Math, including Algebra 1, to students in grades 7 and 8.
Initiates, facilitates, and moderates classroom discussions.
Evaluates and grades students' class work, assignments, and papers.
Prepares course materials such as homework assignments, and handouts.
Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
Compiles, administers, and grades assessments.
Maintains contact with students and parents with regular communication and regularly scheduled evaluations.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree or post graduate work in a related field.
PA Elementary, Middle Level Mathematics, or Mathematics Certification.
Ability to teach Algebra 1
A minimum of three years of teaching experience in math preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
